Increasing competition set to impact businesses: Forvis Mazars C-suite barometer 2025
Forvis Mazars revealed the results of its latest C-suite barometer. The 2025 study found the majority (93%) of C-suite executives worldwide have a positive growth outlook for their organisations, but there are still challenges ahead.
Main conclusions:
Dino Ebneter, Country Managing Partner, Forvis Mazars in Romania, commented: „Looking back at 2024, over four in five Romanian businesses reported growth, with half seeing strong growth of 10% or more - figures that surpass both the regional (34%) and global (42%) averages. This performance highlights how Romanian organisations have managed to not only survive but thrive. However, even considering the positive growth, factors such as increased competition (36%), new regulations (28%), and political instability put an extra pressure that could hinder further growth. These challenges are top of mind for business leaders, as they navigate an increasingly competitive and unpredictable market.”

Growing competition and economic uncertainty impact Romanian and CEE C-suite strategies
The 2025 edition of Forvis Mazars’ C-suite Barometer shows that the majority of C-suite leaders in Romania (90%), Central and Eastern Europe (90%), and globally (93%) have a positive outlook on the growth of their companies, although they acknowledge that challenges remain.
Strategic priorities for leaders in the region over the next three to five years include: IT/technology transformation of their company (33%), international expansion (30%), and sustainability strategies (28%). In Romania, the priorities are aligned with those in the region, but there is a particular emphasis on sustainability strategies, which rank first, being mentioned by 46% of C-suite leaders.
Dino Ebneter, Country Managing Partner, Forvis Mazars in Romania, mentioned: “International expansion continues to stand out as one of the top strategic priorities for Romanian companies. What’s encouraging is the long-term vision - most companies aren’t just reacting to market pressures, but actively planning for cross-border growth. Romania’s location, access to the EU market, and increasingly skilled workforce provide a solid foundation for businesses looking to expand internationally. The next step is turning ambition into action, supported by local insight, cultural adaptability, and strategic planning.”
