The Netherlands Romanian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC) has elected the Board of Directors for the mandate 2016-2017.

The board members were chosen during the General Assembly of Members which took place on the 11th of May 2016 and their official term started in June, after the roles of Vice President and Treasurer were designated within the team.

Irina Zugravu, Ronald Oort and Herman Wierenga are re-elected, while Alexandru Popescu, Philip Aarsman, Ilinca Paun and Edwin Warmerdam are newly appointed in the board.

President, Sebastiaan van Hese, declares: “The NRCC is built on the founding principle that together we can achieve more than apart. Every member contributes to our shared set of values, actions and knowledge, which together make us who we are. After 10 years of incredible achievements and growth, we are now glancing back with pride, but we focus on the future, to continuously increase the value for the largest Dutch-Romanian business community in the country”.

Vice President, Alexandru Popescu, states:  “I am happy and honored to continue the tradition of representing Philips within the new NRCC Board of Directors. As the new Vice-president, I look forward to contribute to the development of the Dutch-Romanian commercial relations, by supporting and developing impactful initiatives together with members and partners.”

Treasurer, Edwin Warmerdam, declares: “I step in the board having a two folded mission: firstly, I want to be a spokesperson, active contributor and liaison between Dutch and Romanian companies for as well as inbound as outbound investments. Romania and The Netherlands have engaged in strong economical collaborations, with great benefits for both parties. I think there are still many opportunities for growth consolidating even more this bilateral exchange. Secondly, as treasurer, I will take care that reporting the financial position of the NRCC is being done in a transparent way and meeting all legal requirements.”

Board member, Philip Aarsman, about his appointment: “Mobility is more than a word. In Romania for companies this is essential for growth. In my position as board member of the NRCC I will use my knowledge and network to stimulate and improve Mobility in a sustainable and environmental friendly way”.

Board member, Ilinca Paun declares:  “I joined the NRCC board of directors being motivated by the desire to contribute to change because Romania deserves a much better position in the global economy. I am here to bring my energy, ideas and sense of personal mission for an increasing impact that the NRCC can have in our business world. We must act and drive change within ourselves and be an example for others".

The Netherlands Romanian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC) is one of the most active bilateral chambers, representing The Netherlands, since many years, the largest foreign investor in Romania.

The dedicated events, the member-driven and industry-focused Task Forces (Transport & Logistics, IT&C, Agriculture, Creative & High-Tech Industries), our active membership in “Coalitia pentru Dezvoltarea Romaniei” and the close contact with the Embassy of The Netherlands in Romania are the foundation of the NRCC’s activity.

In February 2016, NRCC was awarded within the "Nine O'Clock 25 Years Awards Gala", with an important prize: the Excellence Award in the "International Affairs and International Economic Relations" section, for outstanding efforts to attract and consolidate Dutch investments in Romania and also to strengthen economic relations between Romania and the Netherlands.


After 10 years of activity, NRCC network includes 160+ members, representing 20+ industries.
