EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS is a Unique platform for Contemporary Art focused on Eastern Europe

During the last few years Romanian contemporary art has appeared on the global map of the contemporary art scene. There has been a significant rise in the interest for the more exotic regions of Europe and the world. Recently, Cluj has been identified as one of the most avant-garde centers of emerging contemporary art in the world – Art Cities of the Future : 21st Century Avant-Gardes, 2013, Phaidon.

Responding to the emerging demand for Eastern European Art, Raluca Soaita and Andrei Breahna have created an ample initiative dedicated to the integration of contemporary art in architectural spaces and the mediation between the potential demand and the very diversified offer. This initiative succeeded in attracting a significant number of new collectors and even relevant international cultural institutions. Raluca Soaita and Andrei Breahna have been providing a complete range of services for collectors, from defining the collector’s needs to strategic artistic counseling and the integration of artworks in architectural spaces.

EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS is a unique enterprise that canvasses the artistic production from (and upon) Eastern Europe, in order to identify the artists from this area whose practice preserves its singularity, its aesthetic and discursive power of fascination at an international level. Launched in 2014, the gallery conjugates the team’s interdisciplinary experience (art dealing, cultural management, architecture), by proposing to collectors an ambitious artistic program with conceptual artists from different generations.

EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS is working to activate the potential of the local market and create opportunities for institutions and collectors alike. As the Romanian society evolves and we assist to a change in generations, we identify more and more collectors who are appreciating contemporary art. By actively supporting contemporary artists, collectors are contributing to the creation of a better society, thus laying the foundation of a more rapid integration of Romania and Eastern Europe in the global environment.

The artistic program put forward by the EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS team focuses on two complementary dimensions. On the one hand, the first floor is a more classical type of gallery space, where the gallery is looking to bring to the attention of the public a selection of conceptual artists in the area of painting, sculpture, drawing and object-installation. The basement space has been professionally restored to host video and installation exhibitions.

Video art and installations have been largely neglected by galleries in Romania, partly because high production costs and the lack of a local market for this type of artworks. EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS wants to be a pioneer promoter of Easter European video art and has as a main objective to launch on the international market several conceptual artists focused on new media art. In Romania, EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS is looking to align business and the larger public with contemporary art, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy. In order to support artistic production of contemporary artworks, the gallery will be initiating in 2015 a number of projects managed through EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS Cultural Association. This new NGO has as main objective to put forward how important is for companies to associate their corporate image with relevant contemporary artists, active in an international context. By supporting the production of relevant contemporary artworks, companies can show works of art outside of gallery spaces thus contributing to the dissemination of art in society

EASTWARDS PROSPECTUS proposes a full range of private services which create an attractive and original connection between the pasşsion for art and art collecting. In this way, contemporary art lovers are introduced to a full set of tools which span from art consultancy, the evaluation of an artwork and its cultural value and the integration of an artwork in architectural spaces. The objective is to create a seamless experience for the potential collector thus facilitating the access to the artistic message.
